Shayashone PLC (SYS) had a productive three days at HortiFlora 2025, engaging with industry players and exploring new business opportunities.
On the side of the main event, our General Manager facilitated a panel discussion on Local G.A.P. (Good Agricultural Practices) Standards, with the presence of highly distinguished scholar and expert panelists, and participants with profound interest in the topic.
The discussion covered the development and adoption of G.A.P. standards for Ethiopian farmers, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities involved in setting up these standards. Panelists explored how implementing G.A.P. can boost productivity and sustainability in the sector. They also emphasized the important role financial institutions play in supporting farmers to meet these standards and discussed possible incentives to encourage adoption. The session concluded with panelists and participants sharing their experiences with G.A.P. implementation on the ground.
As Ethiopia’s horticulture sector grows, establishing locally adapted G.A.P standards is essential for improving quality, ensuring sustainability, and enhancing global market competitiveness.
The discussions at HortiFlora 2025 laid the groundwork for future collaboration, and SYS looks forward to continuing its engagement in shaping the sector’s development.
